In the magazine Quién México of October 2017 we can find an interview that recently made the Mexican actor on the occasion of the premiere of the second season of The Exorcist. You can read it below.
Not any demon burns him
Alfonso Herrera triumphs in the United States thanks to the series The Exorcist and is sincere about the inner demons with whom he struggled to be happy.
The diabolical possessions are not the only ones that Alfonso Herrera has had to exorcize. With its return in the second season of The Exorcist, transmitted by FX, the actor confessed what internal demons fought to make way in Hollywood. “Shame has to be exorcised. All human beings have fears and insecurities. We must overcome them in order to live, to be a little happier. I learned to get out of my comfort zone and when I did it came very good things”, Alfonso confesses.
For the Mexican, this project not only consists of putting on the cassock and becoming the father again, it is an opportunity to experience a genre that was not very close before. “It’s like a love-hate relationship, because we like to be frightened, it’s exciting, but at the same time it’s a painful feeling. I gradually immersed myself in this genre and now I really appreciate it. Is incredible”.
Although as a priest he has nothing, as a Mexican has it all and perhaps the deep love of their culture is the only quality he shares with his character. “We both feel proud of where we come from, our roots. He is a man who eliminates the stereotypes of Latinos in the United States”.
For Alfonso there is no difference between Mexican productions and the projects he has done for Netflix (Sense8), because the work is the same everywhere. “They are the same cables, cameras, lights and fierros in all sides. In the end, it’s people trying to tell a story”.
